Name Aldo Flores-Quiroga / Secretary General

Aldo Flores-Quiroga took up post as IEF Secretary General in January 2012.

He served in the Mexican government as Assistant Secretary for International Affairs at the Ministry of Energy (2007-2011), and as Assistant Secretary for Bilateral Economic Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2001-2005). He also worked as an independent consultant on trade and industrial policy to the Food and Agriculture Organization, and the governments of Mexico and the Dominican Republic (2005-2006).

Before joining the Mexican government he was Assistant Professor at the School of Politics and Economics of the Claremont Graduate University in California, where he taught courses in international political economy, economics, public policy, and economic development (1996-2001).

Name Simon Stoddart / Public Affairs

Relevant Experience Responsible for Public Affairs at the IEF (International Energy Forum). Formerly Special Advisor to the Deputy Executive Director of the IEA, in Paris. In prior assignments, Mr. Stoddart served in the IEA’s Office of Emergency Planning and Preparedness – its crisis management division, having transferred to Paris from the Marine Sales division of Conoco (downstream) in the UK where he also served for three years as a Business Information & Optimisation Analyst, following an initial assignment as the company’s UK West Coast Supply Programmer. His 23 year association with the energy sector began with a placement in the Employee Relations department of Mobil North Sea Ltd. in 1989.
