IEF SG Dr Sun Xiansheng delivered the opening keynote address "Global Energy Transition: Risks and Opportunities" when he participated in the 4th Russian Energy Forum in London on Thursday 22 June 2017. The Forum was held under the umbrella theme "Russia on the Global Energy Map: Emerging Partnerships, Risks & Opportunities."
Following his keynote presentation the IEF Secretary General joined Dr Boris Abramov, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the UK, Jiro Kida, Special Advisor, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, and Dr Hyo-Sun Kim, Head of the Department of Polar Policy, Korea Polar Research for a panel discussion moderated by Trevor Barton, Executive Director, Russo-British Chamber of Commerce. The subjects covered by the panel included Russia’s role as a major partner in the global energy dialogue, Russia-UK trade and energy relations, Russia’s place in East Asian oil and gas markets, and policies and prospects with focus on the Arctic.
The Rt Hon the Lord Barker of Battle, former Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change (2010-2014) also delivered a keynote address later the same day.
