IEF Secretary General, Dr Sun Xiansheng was invited to deliver a keynote speech and to participate in specialist sessions at the 3rd GCC Petroleum Media Forum, held on 19-20 April 2017 in Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.
HE Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy (UAE) hosted the meeting in which HE Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State UAE & CEO, ADNOC Group (UAE), HE Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, Minister of Oil (Bahrain), HE Essam Abdul Mohsen Al-Marzouq, Minister of Oil (Kuwait), HE Dr Mohammed Al Rumhi, Minister of Oil & Gas (Oman), HE Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry (Qatar), HE Khalid Al Falih, Minister of Energy, Industry & Mineral Resources (Saudi Arabia), and HE Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, OPEC Secretary General also took part along with a number of global media personalities, who gave their views on the relationship between the media and the energy industry at large.
The UAE announced that the 3rd Gulf Cooperation Council Petroleum Media Forum was convened with the intent to accelerate the GCC petroleum media strategy and elevate the perception of the oil industry as well as to highlight the major contribution of the GCC countries in the global economy. The forum also aimed to enhance the capacity of the local media and build a roadmap to develop specialised petroleum media capabilities in the region.
