Cancun Ministerial Declaration

31 March 2010

Cancun, Mexico

Ministers of Energy and high-level government representatives from 66 IEF Countries, meeting on the occasion of the 12th IEF in Cancun, Mexico have issued a landmark declaration of support for an enhanced producer-consumer dialogue. After a period of extraordinary turbulence in energy and financial markets and the convening of two ad hoc energy meetings in Jeddah and London to try to understand the potential causes and remedies, it is clearer than ever that energy issues cannot be resolved unilaterally; they demand committed international cooperation and a willingness to engage in frank and open dialogue.
