Founded in 1917, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists was established in order to foster scientific research, to advance the science of geology, to promote technology, and to inspire high professional conduct. AAPG provides publications, conferences and educational opportunities to geoscientists and disseminates the most current geological information available to the general public.

The American Petroleum Institute (API) is a national trade association that represents all aspects of America’s oil and natural gas industry.
IPIECA is the global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues. Established in 1974 in response to the formation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the organisation’s membership now covers over half of the world’s oil production and IPIECA remains the industry’s principal channel of communication with the UN on environmental and social issues.

Petroleum Association of Japan (PAJ)
The Petroleum Association of Japan (PAJ), which is composed of 14 refiners and primary distributors in Japan, was incorporated in November 1955. PAJ focuses on three main areas of activity: to collect the opinions of its member companies and compile proposals to be incorporated in government petroleum policy, to monitor the situation of the petroleum industry, and to provide information relating to the petroleum industry.
UK Petroleum Industry Association (UKPIA)
UKPIA represents the interests of nine member companies engaged in the UK downstream oil industry on a range of common issues relating to refining, distribution and marketing of oil products, in non-competitive areas. UKPIA's role is to inform its members of proposed legislation and related developments, and to help form and advocate the industry's position. UKPIA is also an authoritative source of information or reference on the UK downstream industry.
