The Joint Organisations Data Initiative (JODI) is an outcome of the producer‐consumer dialogue, and is the flagship of the IEF Secretariat’s work on data transparency. More than 100 countries now submit oil data to JODI, and about 80 countries submit gas data to the initiative. The collective aim of the participating countries is to improve data transparency, and to help reduce market volatility thereby enhancing global energy security in the interests of all.

The Government of Japan has provided the Secretariat additional funding in support of capacity-building efforts, and the promotion of JODI among developing countries. The Secretariat is thus able to offer short‐term internships at IEF Headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for government officials from developing countries dealing directly with oil & gas market statistics. The Secretariat invites countries to forward applications from interested candidates in their relevant energy agencies.
A primary objective of the internships is to strengthen working-level contacts between the country in question and the Secretariat, as well as to improve and maintain the quality of national data submissions to JODI. The normal duration of the short‐term JODI internships ranges from a few days to a week.

The IEF Secretariat co‐ordinates this key data transparency initiative with the active support of the JODI partner organisations: the Asia‐Pacific Economic Co‐operation (APEC), the European Union through EUROSTAT, the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Latin‐American Energy Organization (OLADE), the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC and the United Nations through the UN Statistics Division.
For further information on the JODI internship programme please contact the IEF’s Energy Data Coordinator, Fuad AlZayer (fuad.alzayer@ief.org) or IEF Energy Analyst, Yuichiro Torikata (yuichiro.torikata@ief.org)
