Nuclear Small Modular Reactors (SMRs): Key Considerations for Deployment
Virtual Event
Several IEF member countries are exploring and reframing the role of nuclear power in energy security and decarbonization. Nuclear energy is considered by many as a viable, and even necessary component in a portfolio of options to reduce CO2 emissions in the power sector. An emerging part of this discussion is the potential of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in achieving climate goals and fostering economic development as part of the energy transition.
Much excitement has been generated regarding SMR deployment globally. However, this technology raises new considerations when compared to larger conventional reactors. Understanding the challenges and opportunities facing SMR deployment can better inform policymakers and stakeholders in their decision-making.
The IEF and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies is pleased to host this webinar where the Graduate Student Consulting Team will present their research findings, followed by a Q&A discussion with a panel of experts.
The goal is to provide IEF government policymakers and industry stakeholders with an analytical framework to support decision-making on SMRs.
