The 2015 Singapore Energy Summit took place under the auspices of the Energy Market Authority as part of the activities of the Singapore International Energy Week. Participants at the Summit exchanged viewpoints on Asia's oil and gas markets and their prospects in the short, medium, and long-term. The process of price formation in gas markets and the outlook for oil and energy security figured prominently in the conversations, not only because of the interest some countries have to foster gas-to-gas competition, but because Singapore launched a spot market for LNG cargoes. The IEF Secretary General was a panelist in the session on “Securing Energy in an Era of Uncertainty”, where the focus zeroed in on the multidimensional challenge of energy. Diversification of energy sources, the panelists agreed, is fundamental to energy security, and all sources of energy have a role to play in this regard.
