The Role of Clean Hydrogen and CCUS to Achieve Climate Ambitions in MENA

With the support of the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) Regional Collaboration initiative team, and on the occasion of the MENA Climate Week, the International Energy Forum (IEF) and King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) will host a joint high-level workshop on October, 10, 2023 at the KAPSARC APEX Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The purpose of the workshop is to discuss the region's potential to advance the hydrogen economy as a means of meeting national and global climate targets. The main objective of the workshop is to explore how the region can find ways to scale up hydrogen through investments, human capital development, and technology deployment. Participants will discuss ways to strengthen energy and climate policies through producer consumer dialogue and international partnerships. The workshop's outcome will serve as part of the effort in the CCE Regional Collaboration under the Middle East Green Initiative to support and accelerate the implementation of the region's climate goals.
The CCE workshop will be opened by welcoming and introductory remarks from the President of KAPSARC and IEF Secretary General, followed by a scene setting keynote by the Chief Climate Negotiator of the Ministry of Energy of Saudi Arabia and three expert panel sessions on:

- Optimizing Technology Pathways and Value Chains
- Engaging The Private Sector and Securing Financing
