IEF Appoints Cornelia Meyer As Special Advisor For Europe

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – The International Energy Forum (IEF) announced today the appointment of Cornelia Meyer as Special Advisor to the Secretary General for Europe.

"Europe's energy system is changing fast with a renewed focus on energy security," said IEF Secretary General Joseph McMonigle. "This calls for intensive international engagement and dialogue to ensure it is well understood by both energy producers and consumers, who are all managing an increasingly complex transition amid an energy market crisis."

In her role as Special Advisor, Ms Meyer will advise the Secretary General on macro-economic trends, energy market developments and public policies in Europe.

"Cornelia is well known to the IEF community and already participates in many important meetings of the Secretariat as well as ministerial meetings. Her views and advice are well-regarded, and I am delighted that she has agreed to serve in this unpaid advisory role to me as Secretary General," Mr McMonigle added.

Ms Meyer is a business consultant, macro-economist and energy expert who previously worked at General Electric and BP before a varied career in advisory roles and board positions. She is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MRL Corporation and Chairman and Chief Economist of LBV Asset Management.

Ms Meyer was an investment banker before she joined the energy industry and was adviser to the Japanese Minister of Trade and Industry Yoshiro Mori in the 1990s.

She is a member of Oxford Energy Policy Club and serves on the Advisory Boards of the Istanbul Finance Summit and Euromoney.
