Alternative Metrics for Real-Time Assessment of Jet Fuel Demand
In the second study of the series "Post-Covid Recovery Energy Monitor" the IEF has published a research report into jet fuel demand.
Combining flight data, passenger throughput statistics, and flight schedules from a variety of government sources, airport statistics and publicly available information, IEF researchers created a country-level index for the aviation sector recovery in 40 countries, representing approximately 70 percent of total jet fuel demand.
These data were analyzed alongside jet fuel demand data from the Joint Organizations Data Initiative database.
The study found that global demand for aviation fuel stood 30 percent below pre-pandemic levels in early June 2021 and may not recover fully for two more years. For more information, see the links below.
