16th IEA-IEF-OPEC Symposium on Energy Outlooks
Wednesday 04 February 2026
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
The 16th IEA-IEF-OPEC Symposium on Energy Outlooks convenes senior decision-makers, analysts, and industry leaders at a pivotal moment. Diverging scenarios, new market realities, and rapidly evolving energy-security and climate policies make enhanced dialogue on outlooks—and the underlying data and assumptions—more important than ever. This year's theme, Megatrends, Resilience, and Change, explores how markets, policies, and technologies can align to deliver secure, sustainable, and affordable energy.
The Symposium will be chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, Minister of Energy, Saudi Arabia, and be co-hosted by Jassim Alshirawi, Secretary General of the International Energy Forum, Haitham Al Ghais, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.
The symposium will be structured into five key sessions:
- Megatrends, Resilience, and Change: Welcome and scene setting remarks by the co-hosts and guest organizations.
- Key Findings of the IEF Comparative Outlook Report: Presentation and comparison of key findings from the IEA, OPEC, and EIA outlooks, and how they relate to other outlooks and real-world market and policy dynamics.
- High-Level Government and Industry Global Perspectives: Senior government and industry representatives discuss energy-policy priorities in relation to outlook projections and specific demand drivers.
- Medium-Term Outlooks: Navigating Headwinds with Resilience: How medium-term scenarios frame the challenges of the new global risk environment and the balance between security, sustainability, and affordability in diverse regional contexts.
- Long Term Perspectives: Aligning Energy Security with Transitions: Relating long-term scenarios to specific energy demand drivers and exploring the interaction between global energy outlooks and the energy investment and technology advances required.
The annual IEA-IEF-OPEC Symposium on Energy Outlooks is part of a wider joint program of work agreed upon by the three organizations and endorsed by Energy Ministers at the 12th International Energy Forum (Cancún, March 2010) as part of the Cancún Declaration.
